At the border of India and China, deep in the Himalayas at 14,000 feet, lies one of the highest saltwater lakes in the world. Known as Pangong Tso (Pangong Lake), this lake straddles the border, with 25% lying within India and 75% lying in China. At 12 o'clock are seen mountains in China. Permits are required to visit the lake.
Despite this lake being brackish, it completely freezes in winter. The lake is known for its crystal clear waters and deep turquoise hues.
